Android vs iOS

Nowadays, Android and iOS are common names which often spelt by technology lover. Which one is better? Which one is more useful? And which one is more powerful? Those are the topic which often argued by the technology lover. At the fact, both Android and iOS are the best operation system for tablets or smart phones in this globe. Either Android or iOS is a leading innovation operation system. Even they are leading in their class, between Android and iOS have some differences in some ways. Through their differences, consumers can easily define which gadget will be the best for them.

                By the time, the competition between Android and iOS can be felt by society. Building new innovations is still continuing to fulfill the desires of the people. As Android, this operation system can be easily found throughout many vendors of smart phone and tablet, such as in Samsung, Sony, LG, HTC, Lenovo, Motorola, and etc. On the contrary, since iOS has been invented, iOS operation system is only available on Apple devices. This limitation affects to the cost of iOS devices is more expensive than Android devices. Caused by most Android devices are more economic, it makes Android dominating the market competition. For most people, choosing Android devices as their gadget is not only caused by the cost is more economic, but it is also caused by the easiness of operating Android devices. Its easiness is caused by Android vendor launches its operation system through almost all of smart phone and tablet vendors except Apple vendor. A wide distribution of Android operation system among many gadgets makes people get used to use Android as the operation system of their gadgets.

                For the performance, between Android and iOS, it can be tested by the both of the newest and the most famous product of Samsung and Apple. Galaxy S5 is a smart phone launched by Samsung corporation which is trusted Android as its operation system. On the opposite side, iOS operation system is operated in iPhone 5S which launched by Apple vendor. The performance between those smart phones can be easily differentiated by their power, speed, and their model. At the first, for the power, battery is the main source of power for both devices. In iPhone 5S, un-removable battery is planted inside this device, and the battery can stand alive up to around 8 hours. For Galaxy S5, this smart phone is powered by removable battery which can stand alive up to around 9 hours. Second is the speed, many people argue that iPhone 5S is faster than Galaxy S5. It is caused by iPhone 5S has designed with GPU as its processor, whereas, Galaxy S5 is just supported by CPU processor. Third is the model, the model of Galaxy S5 and iPhone 5S are almost similar. Both of those smart phones are designed with large screen dominated in the front side of the phone, and with very sensitive touch screen pad control. Simple rectangular with little arches on every angle becomes the model of those smart phones. Even their model are almost similar, between Galaxy S5 and iPhone 5S can be differentiated by their large and weigh. Galaxy S5 is larger than iPhone 5S. For the weigh, iPhone 5S has less-weigh than Galaxy S5.  

                For the application, between Android and iOS, has some differences on their development, quantity, and quality of their applications. The development of applications is so contrast between Android and iOS. Android has open source trait, it means that the users are allowed to change the application without some strict rules. In the meantime, iOS has opposite trait from Android, i.e. closed source. Closed source means that we as the users of iOS devices cannot change the origin of the application in accordance with our wishes, but here the Apple as a developer is able to provide applications to complete our needs. Through the applications, for the quantity of their applications, there are around 8 millions applications provided in Google store (the official applications store for Android) for Android devices. On the other sides, App store (official Applications store for iOS) provides almost 9 millions applications for iOS devices. Not only at the quantity of the application where iOS is stepping ahead Android, but also at the quality, iOS is still leading. A company named uTest observed that Apple provided better applications than Android did. In the observation data launched in the January of 2014, uTest posted that iOS’ applications were leading by getting 68.5 scores, whereas Android’s applications got 63.3 scores.

                Well, either Android or iOS is an absolute symbol of modern technological innovation. Both of them are increasingly competing to provide comfort for the users. Innovations by innovations invented by Android and iOS make some differences between them. Through all the differences make people have different perspective to Android and iOS, and by those differences make people easily define that both Android and iOS have their own characteristics and benefits. So, which one is the best to use depends on the needs’ of the user.
